Halloween party
(Nov 14, 2007)
By Marcia Fishman
The Malibu East children's Halloween party was another roaring success. There were approximately 30 children who attended this year and they had an absolutely wonderful time. They decorated pumpkins, cupcakes and masks and did face painting. There were plenty of games for the kids to play as well. All the children were decked out in absolutely wonderful costumes - from a dinosaur to a princess, a pumpkin, a cheerleader, an Indian princess, a rock star, Harry Potter and "twins." The finale, as always, was the mummy wrap! Of course, it would have not been a success without Chris and the helpful hand of her son, Carlos. Also, Parsha, Wade and Merkal, as always, came down to help set up, and their work was really appreciated. In order to continue having these great events for the children of Malibu East, we need parents to help plan them. Please leave your name at the doorman's station addressed to Marcia.

2007 Easter Egg Hunt
(Apr 11, 2007)
By: Christine Barragan and Marcia Fishman
The MECA Parent's Committee hosted an "Easter Egg Hunt" party in the Windjammer Room on Saturday, April 7th.
Even though the weather was freezing outside, it felt like spring was in the air! The room was decorated with flowers. Balloons, bunnies and plastic eggs were everywhere. About 20 of our young residents and their parents enjoyed spending time together and celebrating the holiday. The kids colored Easter eggs and decorated their own cupcakes. Even though we didn't play any games this year, there was a special energy in the room. Everyone had fun and the refreshments were delicious. We had fresh fruit, vegetables with dip and Easter Bunny cookies. The pink lemonade gave a "springtime feel"! When the official call was announced, the "Easter Egg Hunt" began, and everyone scattered to find the plastic eggs. Some eggs were hard to find and no corner of the room was overlooked! The party ended with goodie bags for everyone to take home and remember the day.
A special Thank You is given to Art, Carlos and Parsa for helping set-up, and staying until the end. They are part of our "party" crew and we couldn't have done it without them! We were also grateful to Meg and Yu, our guests, for offering their kind assistance. We were so lucky to have them as our guests!
The Parent's Committee thanks everyone who attended and we hope to see you at our other events. We welcome all parents to join our "crew." We would love to have you!

2006 Halloween Party
(Oct 30, 2006)
By: Marcia Fishman, Chris Barragan and Beth Robinson
Another year and another great Halloween party hosted by the Parents Committee. Approximately 25 children and a few parents had a wonderful time.
The Windjammer Room was decorated and there were plenty of activities for the children to enjoy. They decorated cupcakes and pumpkins and had face painting. Maya was the mad scientist who helped the kids make flubber and slime.
The kids enjoyed a Halloween twister game and played pass-the-eyeball and pin the nose on the witch. Of course, there was the annual mummy wrap! Even the parents participated and were happily wrapped up!
The children and parents enjoyed the food and beverages provided by the committee and, at the end of the party, all received goodie bags.
The children did not want to leave and were already looking forward to next year.
A special Thank You goes to Maya for helping us and staying until the end, as well as Mirko and Parsa for coming down early to help us decorate the Windjammer Room! Also, Carlos needs to be thanked for attending our planning meeting and giving the committee ideas he thought the children would like - and they did.
